      Yay for public art!

Champions for public and accessible art, Vancouver Mural Festival has just announced the dates for this summer’s programming. From August 7-11, art lovers can flock to Mount Pleasant to see the new murals, take in live performances, and more.

“Our goal is to bring people together through the power of public art, amplifying voices and creating platforms for diverse artists. This year, we are expanding with murals all over the city and beyond, integrating ways for audiences to interact with the art, and presenting over 60 performances,” said VMF executive director Miriam Esquitín in a release. “We can’t wait to see the smiles, awe, and inspiration this year’s festival will bring to Vancouver.”

Highlights include the Mount Pleasant Street Party, which takes over the City Centre Artist Lodge with a main stage, food vendors, artisan markets, a spot for kiddos and the kid-at-heart (read: beer tasting zones). Festival attendees can join an official VMF mural tour alongside the parties to learn more about the art and the artists.

Schedule for the week after Vancouver Pride, VMF keeps the queer celebrations going with its third collaboration with Ricecake, an Asian queer creative collective, and a partnership with QTBIPOC-led electronic party organizer Drill Events for one night of VMF After Dark.
