Wet weather sees Whistler Mountain open early, Grouse Grind on standby

Recent wet weather is both a blessing and a bummer for local mountains.

Thanks to a moist Pacific frontal system sweeping into the area, powderheads can hit the slopes in Whistler starting next Thursday (November 19).

The mountain, which has received 98 centimetres of snow in November already, will have five lifts running: the Whistler Village Gondola, the Creekside Gondola, Emerald Express, Big Red Express, and Franz’s Chair.

Blackcomb Mountain is still scheduled to open on November 26.

However, the dreary days mean access to the Grouse Grind, a favourite with local hikers, has been put on standby

Grouse received a couple of centimetres of snow yesterday as well.
