Where to grab a drink during Khatsahlano

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Known as the busiest day on West 4th, Khatsahlano brings thousands of festivalgoers to Kitsilano, taking in the people watching and live music. If you’re looking to escape the crowds temporarily and wet your whistle, here are a few spots in Kits that will check off those boxes.

      Maenam

Partnering with B.C. wineries Pamplemousse Jus and Scout Vineyard, Maenam offers a second volume of its limited edition wine, The Riesling Project. A partnership between chef Angus An and wine director Kurtis Kolt, The Riesling Project is blended to pair well with Thai cuisine and is poured by glass or bottle if you’re keen to get wine drunk for Khats.

      Brewing August

If you’re really looking to escape the madness of Khatsahlano, Brewing August is conveniently located a few walkable blocks away from the entrance. Inspired by the long days of summer on the West Coast, Brewing August has an extensive menu of brewskies available on tap and on the go.

      Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe

Lean into the madness and magic of Khatsahlano by trying to score a table at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe, a spot with all the quirky charm Kitsilano was originally known for. Known for a menu full of comfort classics and kitschy decor, Sophie’s is a Kits classic and is located in the heart of the Khatsahlano festivities, so expect a bit of a wait.

      Mi Casa Mexicana

Get a bird's-eye view of Kitsilano and the throngs of people at Mi Casa, a Mexican spot at the corner of Burrard and West 4th. Mi Casa is on the second floor above a tattoo parlour, making it the ideal place to scout out the crowd without participating, all while devouring tamales.

      Their There

For those who aren’t sure if they need caffeine or booze to power them through Khatsahlano, why not both? At Their There, drinks include an entire espresso bar line-up, featured drinks, all-day cocktails, beer and wine. Where else on Kits can you have a matcha latte in one hand and a bloody mary in the other?
