The director of the Maze Runner movies, Wes Ball, has tweeted an emotional hand-written letter following a crash involving star Dylan O'Brien.

O'Brien remains in a Vancouver hospital after the Thursday (March 17) on-set accident in Cache Creek, B.C.

The star of the science-fiction action thriller movie franchise was reportedly hit by a car during filming.

"Well, it's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days," Ball states in the letter. "I've been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt."

Maze Runner director Wes Ball tweeted this message.

Then Ball adds that he is left with "a deep love and respect for Dylan".

"He is one tough cookie. I'm sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew."

There's no official word on O'Brien's condition, but Ball's letter states that after a few weeks of rest and recovery, he is "going to be just fine"'.

      WorkSafe B.C. officials are investigating.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which is the third installment in the franchise, is scheduled to be released in February 2017.

Dylan O'Brien will recover and be back on his feet, according to his director.
