From July 26 to 29, Element Music Festival brings four days of live music, art installations, and more to Snug Lake Amphitheatre (40 km north of Princeton).

Surrounded by forest and set by a clear mountain lake, Element's purpose-built amphitheatre will be the venue for performances by Lotus, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Spafford, Particle, Genetics, Yak Attack, McTuff, GD/BC, the Unfaithful Servants, Baked Potato, and Naryan Padmanabha, along with artists-at-large Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band), and Jason Hann (the String Cheese Incident).

"In terms of the improvisational-music world, we’ve put together some of the heaviest hitters in the world,” Element cofounder Keith Duggan told the Straight in an interview last year. “Our plan was ‘Put them all together in one place, give them multiple days so they aren’t leaving right after their set, and support collaboration.’ We’re giving all these phenomenal musicians a nice palette where they can go paint.”

This year's festival also features lakeside yoga with musical accompaniment every morning, freshwater fishing in Snug or one of the numerous other nearby lakes, an art gallery showcasing some of B.C.’s finest painters and graphic artists, workshops teaching candle and incense making, a kid’s zone, interactive art installations, and a vending village filled with food trucks as well as clothing and craft venders.
