Surrey shooting victim identified as 47-year-old hockey coach Paul Bennett

      Homicide investigators have released more information about a murder in Surrey on the weekend.

      Paul Bennett, a 47-year-old Cloverdale minor hockey coach and emergency-room nurse, was gunned down outside a home in the 18200 block of 67A Avenue around 4 p.m. on Saturday (June 23).

      He was rushed to hospital but didn't survive.

      Police said in a news release that investigators do not believe it was a random attack.

      “We are releasing Mr. Bennett’s name in an effort to determine his activities and who he may have had contact with leading up to the shooting,” Cpl. Frank Jang said.
