After a shooting took place in Abbotsford on Tuesday night, one male was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

At 7:25 p.m. on October 22, the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) responded to reports of gunfire in the 31700 block of South Fraser Way.

Officers who arrived at the scene confirmed a shooting had taken place and two vehicles had fled the scene.

Shortly thereafter, police received a call about a vehicle on fire a short distance away from the scene.

Investigators believe that the burning vehicle is one of the two that fled after the shooting.

Meanwhile, police received an additional report that a shooting victim had arrived at a hospital in a vehicle with gunfire damage.

The victim, a South Asian male in his early 20s, was suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Both vehicles have been seized for analysis as the investigation continues.

Investigators believe that the shooting was targeted but the motive remains unknown.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the APD at 604-859-5225 or, to report anonymously, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
