Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly is continuing with her tough talk against Russia.
"Canada will ban Russian-owned or registered ships from Canadian waters and from our ports," Joly tweeted today (March 1). "We will use every tool at our disposal to ensure that the Russian regime is punished for their reckless acts.

In addition, Joly said that Canada will be referring Russia to the International Criminal Court over its invasion of Ukraine.
Canada wants an investigation of the Putin government for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The Russian Federation is not among the 123 countries that are state parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
In Geneva today, Joly helped lead a walkout of of diplomats from the Human Rights Council when Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, started speaking via videotape.
Today, Russia reportedly blew up a Holocaust memorial site and bombed a TV tower in Kyiv, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a University of Ottawa professor of law and medicine, Amir Attaran, says that Canada should consider joining the war if Ukraine asks for this and if one of two conditions are met:
1. Russia commits further attacks deliberately targeting civilians;
2. Belarus declares war on Ukraine.
