In recognition of Indigenous History Month, the Vancouver Whitecaps is hosting its annual Indigenous Peoples Celebration Match this weekend (June 29) with performances from Indigenous-owned label Land Back Records.

Starting with pre-match festivities, Niik George of the Tsleil-Waututh nation will be at the Terry Fox Plaza showcasing traditional drumming with various emerging talent and youth performances, including Pîsim SB, Dem Rosé Boys, Kadence, and $ Bake.

Inside BC Place, singer-songwriter Hayley Wallis will be onsite for a marquee performance and the national anthem. During half-time, attendees will take in the traditional drumming and singing from Casey Desjarlais and Rayanna Seymour, a medley from Dakota Bear, and the talents of Eli Gosselin-Rattlesnake—recognized as the world’s tallest hoop dancer.

Of course, there will also be soccer: the hometown boys will face off against St. Louis City SC.
