Joe’s BBQ Boat brings grilling to False Creek
Victoria Day (May 18) marks the unofficial start to outdoor-dining season. For something different from the usual back-yard party, how about grilling on the water?
Joe’s BBQ Boat is an electric-powered vessel that looks like a giant orange inner tube; it seats up to eight guests around a small propane grill in the centre. Rentals come with life jackets and other equipment, and you can bring your own food or add catering.
The rate is for a minimum 2.5-hour rental, and the per-person cost goes down for larger groups. (Two people, for example, would pay $165, while four would pay $275.)
You don’t need a boating licence to take it out; for details, see joesbbqboat.com/.
