Contemporary artist Dina González Mascaró (DGM) is known in Vancouver and beyond for her bold inimitable sculptural jewellery. Perhaps less known is that the jewellery work is only one piece of a multi-faceted art practice that includes, but is not limited to, sculpture, painting, drawing, and furniture.

This spring we have the opportunity to step inside the world of DGM’s darkMountains, charcoal and graphite drawings, opening March 11, 2016 at the Mount Pleasant design shop Vancouver Special.

DGM works in an—open space – overlap space – non place— between the art and design world. Within this gap González Mascaró displays her—always three-dimensional—view of things. Her works explore structure, rubble, architecture, and memory.

darkMountains are drawings from DGM’s latest series DARK, drawing and paintings inspired by mountains, caves, structures, and loss.

DGM’s body of work oscillates between scales and between art – jewellery – sculpture – furniture.
