      Cities are noisy.

Loud sounds irritate, and disrupt peace.

Too much noise harms hearing. It can also lead to more serious health issues.

To help urban dwellers, Zolo Realty has prepared a guide about noise regulations in the top 10 most populated cities in Canada.

These are Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton, Mississauga, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Brampton, and Hamilton.

The guide notes that the intensity of sound is measured in decibels (dB).

A quiet room registers 40 dB. A conversation produces 50 dB. A diesel truck running 50 kilometres per hour creates 85 dB. A crying baby, 100 to 120 dB. A leaf or snow blower, 120 dB.

Zolo Realty’s "Canadian noise regulations and bylaws: what you need to know" can be read here.

For details about Vancouver, click here on the city’s official page. It also includes what to do about barking dogs.
