A new concert series is being hosted at VanDusen Botanical Garden

Sweet Sounds of Summer features four outdoor concerts over two days on the garden’s Great Lawn—so bring a picnic blanket and get ready to lay out.

There will also be a selection of food trucks onsite, making it all too easy to spend a day in the garden with the family (there are certainly worse things).

“We are thrilled to introduce Sweet Sounds of Summer as a vibrant addition to our special events at VanDusen Botanical Garden,” shares Emily Schultz, supervisor of revenue and vsitor services, in a statement. “We’re delighted to host such a diverse range of talented musicians and bring the community together to enjoy live music and discover plants and nature in a place of inspiration.”

      The lineup is as follows:

      July 14

10:30am to 11:30am: Modern Biology. This show is performed by Turan Nayar: a biologist and musician who uses a combination of plants, modular synthesis, and homemade synthesizers to play with the natural vibrations via plant bioelectricity.

3:30pm to 4:15pm: Clementine & Friends. This folk band for young children encourages kids to sing along and follow clapping patterns.

      August 18

10:30am to 11:15am: Ginalina & One Big Family. This show features multi-language artist Ginalina and a five-piece band performing sing-along friendly songs about summer in English, Mandarin, and French.

3:30pm to 4:30pm: Kutapira. This dance music is inspired by West African and Afro-Cuban regions.
