With Vancouver’s Westward Music Festival just days away (it takes place June 22 and 23), event organizers MRG have announced a scheduling tweak.

Original plans were to have the weekend festival kick off each day with live performances at the City Centre Artist Lodge’s Skyline Stage, but all bands originally scheduled for that space will now play at the historic Vogue Theatre.

In a message to the Straight, MRG’s David Prowse says: “We were really looking forward to doing some of our programming there, and it was a tough decision to move those shows to the Vogue. The folks at City Centre are awesome and they were super understanding of the move, and we hope to work with them in the future.”

Vogue shows will now kick off in the early evening, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Other participating venues include Red Gate, the Biltmore, and the Fox Cabaret, with eight shows taking place at the four spaces,.

Headlining artists playing the 2024 edition of Westward Music Festival include Polaris Prize–winning genre-jumper Debby Friday, Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins, and Los Angeles critical darlings Cherry Glazerr.

Vancouver acts will also be spotlighted and celebrated at Westward, with the lineup including Haley Blais, Janky Bungag, Hotel Decor, Devours, Winona Forever, and 2024 Elevate Music Project winner Temia.
