Vancouver city councillor witnesses "massive explosion" in Chinatown

      Vancouver's Chinatown has been rocked by an explosion.

      Vancouver councillor Rebecca Bligh tweeted that it looks like police were already on the scene before it occurred.

      "Just witnessed massive explosion in Chinatown / Keefer & Main, VPD are on scene," Blight tweeted. "Still rattled from the ground vibration and the sound of whatever caused it. Looks like police were already on scene before the sound of the explosion went off."

      The Vancouver Police Department has tweeted that there has been a structure fire, along with several explosions, in the 200 block of Keefer Street.

      Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services is on the scene dealing with the fire.

      Drivers are being advised to take alternate routes.

      Fire Chief Karen Fry tweeted some good news this afternoon, declaring that residents could return to their rooms where fire had broken out.
