A new era for one of Vancouver’s most iconic fine dining restaurants is about to begin.

Back in February, French restaurant Le Crocodile announced that its legendary chef Michel Jacob would retire, and that another local culinary champ—Rob Feenie—would be taking his place at the helm.

And now, the revamped restaurant is set to open its fabled glass doors for this new adventure starting June 25.

“It has been an incredible journey taking the reins of Le Crocodile from my good friend and mentor Michel Jacob, who is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement,” says Feenie, who made a name for himself at the beloved (and long-closed) Lumière on Broadway, in a statement. “My goal has been to create a menu that blends classic French dishes with new, contemporary options that reflect our beautiful West Coast—from fresh ingredients to unique flavours that I love.”

The kitchen team also includes chef de cuisine Marc Marayag (previously at Bar Susu), consulting executive pastry chef Wendy Boys, and returning pastry chef Mark Pugsley.

Guests can expect mainstay dishes like steak tartare with grilled levain; dover sole with fine herbs and caper beurre blanc; and grilled veal tenderloin medallions with signature morel sauce. Seasonally, Feenie and team are serving up dishes such as halibut with artichoke and pomme parisienne, and red and green endive salad with roquefort, candied walnuts, apples, and honey vinaigrette.

The room itself has been redesigned, too, with new millwork, velvet banquette seating, softened lighting, and faux-crocodile embossing—plus a floral wall that will surely be the focal point of many an Instagram post.

Upon reopening on the 25, the restaurant will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 4pm, with lunch service to come at a later date. Le Crocodile is located at 909 Burrard Street #101.
