DOXA Documentary Film Festival has announced its 2024 winners, which means there are new must-see movies to add to your watch list.

Running for 11 days, DOXA is a destination for cinema lovers with a fondness for contemporary documentaries. It gives attendees access to not only a selection of cutting-edge local and international films, but also industry events and filmmaker Q&As.

Now that the festival has wrapped, the prize winners have been announced. Here they are:

• Nigel Moore Award for Youth Programming: Red Fever (Neil Diamond and Catherine Bainbridge)
• Short Documentary: Wouldn’t Make It Any Other Way (Hao Zhou)
• Colin Low Award for Best Canadian Director presented by the Directors Guild of Canada: Pablo Alverez-Mesa (La Laguna del Soldado)
• DOXA Feature Documentary Award: Bye Bye Tiberias (Lina Soualem)
• Elevate Award presented by Elevate Inclusion Strategies: Kamay (Ilyas Yourish and Shahrokh Bikaran)

Jurors also gave honourable mentions to Singing Back the Buffalo (Tasha Hubbard), A Short Film About a Chair (Ibrahim Handal), Yintah (Jennifer Wickham, Brenda Michell, and Michael Toledano), Wilfred Buck (Lisa Jackson), and The Stimming Pool (The Neurocultures Collective and Steven Eastwood).
