While reuniting with your former classmates may seem like a nightmare for many, for others, the blast from the past is emotionally charged, nostalgic, and heartfelt.

BC filmmaker Laura Adkin’s first feature film, Re: Uniting, features an ensemble cast playing college friends who reconnect over a weekend getaway—25 years after graduation.

It’s clearly striking the right chord, because Re: Uniting has just nabbed 12 Leo Award feature film nominations, including those for direction, screenwriting, cinematography, and lead performance.

Les Filles Du Roi by Corey Payette and Wild Goats Surf by Caitlyn Sponheimer each also snagged an impressive eight nominations, and Kim Albright’s With Love And A Major Organ got five.

The Leo Awards, run by the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia, are BC’s premier film and television awards. See the full list of feature film nominees here.
