A Vancouver woman has been charged with murder after her husband was fatally stabbed last year.

After Vancouver police responded to a call to an apartment in the Downtown Eastside on June 28, 2018, they found a 26-year-old man, Shane Tolmie, suffering from a stab wound. He later died in hospital.

His wife, 25-year-old Shannon Watts, was arrested at the scene but was released from custody pending further investigation and approval of charges.

On October 30, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) stated in a news release that after several months of investigation, Watts has been charged with one count of second-degree murder for the death of her common-law husband.

Watts is scheduled to appear in Vancouver provincial court on November 13.
