There's a Canadawide warrant for a prolific offender who has spent most of his adult life behind bars.

John Frederick Field, 60, left his Vancouver halfway house at 7:30 p.m. on August 25, according to Vancouver police.

It occurred on the same day that Field received a statutory release from Kent Institution.

The VPD stated that he was serving a sentence for sexual assault, break and enter, robbery, and theft.

In 2020, the Chilliwack Progress reported that Field received a six-year prison sentence after committing a botched robbery, break-and-enter, and sexual assault in 2018.

According to reporter Paul Henderson's story, Field "ended up getting kicked in the groin".

Crown counsel told the court at the time that Field had spent 32 of his 40 adult years in custody.
