Today (December 3), the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified one of two victims of a shooting that took place in the Whalley and Central City area of Surrey on Sunday night.

Around 10:51 p.m. on December 1, Surrey RCMP received several reports about a shooting in the area of 136A Street and 114th Avenue in Surrey.

Officers arriving at the scene found a male who had died and a second male suffering from gunshot wounds.

The injured male was taken to hospital and is now in stable condition.

However, the 21-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene and IHIT identified him today as Verron Nand.

Surrey RCMP previously stated that both victims are known to police.

“We believe this was a targeted shooting and determining the motive is one of our priorities right now,” IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang stated in a news release.  “We are especially appealing to Verron’s closest friends and associates to help us understand why anyone would do him harm.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT information line by phone at 1-877-551- 4448 or by email. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
